lil inspirations

One of the biggest influence on me right now is Miss Pretty. I'm proud to say that she is a voracious doodler. It's the first thing that she does when she wakes up and often is the last thing she does before bed. I decided to take one of her creations and raise it up a notch by recreating it on canvas with paint.

patch work owl

My owl patchwork quilt I acquired a few years ago at a neighborhood garage sale. I got it for 15 dollars. Supposedly the woman purchased it at a Parisian Flea Market in her earlier years.
It's nice to look at while doing school work with Mr. D..

hello october

Yew, I am so glad that September is over with because having to be responsible for black and white pics everyday turned out to be quite an ordeal. To start October fresh here is a painting that I did of my Cousin Jean.

we interrupt this post to bring you an emergency ranting

In regards to Project Runway.
People, have we not learned yet, never ever, ever talk bad about the Judges, especially behind their backs. Good bye Stella. At least Ratbone will be happy to see you. Don't forget your mallet.
Excuse me but could someone empty out that tissue box and stuff Kenley's head in it? Has anyone mentioned to her that this is Project Runway not her therapy session. My 3 year old has better control of her emotions. I use to like you but then you went all hysterical, first with the laughing and the laughing and the laughing and now crying? I can't take it Kenley. And, why the purple fuzzy guinea pigs on the shoulders?
We now return you to the blog in progress.

reference

Found these mini mid-century furniture while out thrifting. They're a big hit with Miss Pretty. Maybe they will teach her about aesthetics and the love for well designed furnishings. Then again maybe not quite. If only they were those things that you can add water to and grow. Anyway, I'm using these as reference points. Let's see...credenza, check.

cozy feet

Remember the socks that your Aunt Minetta made you when you were a child? No, well, my hubby does in fact he still has them. So, along that line of cozy warm sock memories I thought that I would knit some up as well for the family. Since the yarn is bulk weight they knit quickly which is very good considering I have to make about 6 pairs before Christmas.
